What are the benefits of music lessons?
So many! Here are just a few: Encourage confidence and self-expression, Decrease outside stress and improve mood, Improve focus and self-discipline, Boost skills needed for math, reading, languages, memorization, public speaking & more, Sharpen motor skills, Enhance positive mind-body connections, Increase appreciation and love of music & the arts!
What ages do you teach?
I currently work with (and have experience working with) children age 5 thru adults. My music teaching experience has prepared me to meet students where they are and help them grow from there. That experience includes: being a master class teacher for college and high school students, a certified K-12 classroom teacher with years of experience, and over a decade of teaching privately.
How often and how long do you meet with students?
I meet with adult and teen singers weekly for one hour. Children's voice lessons are typically 45 minutes long. (These times provide a suitable amount of time to warm-up, practice breath work, do some ear-training and musicianship activities, and learn and perform repertoire! Singers (especially kids and teens) have to build their instrument in addition to learn how to perform with it, so singers need that slightly longer time.)
I meet with younger piano students for half an hour weekly. Intermediate students work with me for 45 minutes. More advanced students require an hour.
Some students meet with me for lessons in both piano and voice! I require all students to study with me year-round. Like any other discipline, taking long breaks between lessons is not advantageous to a student's learning or progressing.
What do lessons cost?

What styles of music do you teach?
My training at Juilliard and my experience as a professional performer have required me to learn a wide variety of music styles. So, I'm excited to the share the diverse music I've learned and come to love -- from Classical, Musical Theater, Pop and Jazz to R&B, Folk, World, and more! Of course, I take each student's own interests and performance levels into account first, but early exposure to a variety of music can enrich us for a lifetime!
Do you offer "combo" lessons for younger students who want an intro to both piano and voice?
Yes! For younger kids (ages 5-8), I do offer one hour sessions with 30 minutes of piano training and 30 minutes of voice training.
How many students do you teach at once?
Just one! I teach private lessons.
Do you have a recital or studio events if you're online?
Absolutely! We have opportunities for students to meet, play and sing for each other online -- sometimes in more casual, low-key gatherings like our "Studio Soirée." Sometimes, we will offer more "performance-style" online concerts for families and friends from near and far to join and enjoy! The beauty of being online!
What is the expectation for practice at home?
Depending on age and level, a minimum of five sessions of 10-15 minutes of practice is expected between lessons each week. Like anything in life (school subjects, sports, etc.) -- the more you do something, the better you'll get at it! Please always feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about making a practice routine, or if this is causing any stress in your household.

Do I have to be present for my child's lessons?
If a child is between 5-7 years old, an adult caregiver will be required to be present for the student's lesson for the first four lessons. After this, we will discuss whether the student is ready and able to have a lesson without close supervision. Especially at the beginning of a student's time taking lessons, supportive encouragement of practice at home, and helping to create a quiet and distraction-free environment with supplies ready will be key in showing your young learner how to set up a practice routine in between lessons.
Can you play piano accompaniment for voice lessons?
Yes! I usually record accompaniment for a singer's lesson in advance, so that I can focus on you and how you're singing. Since I am an accomplished pianist, I am able to work with singers on arrangements of songs, and record accompaniment for them based on exactly how they want their songs to sound (and in the best key for them!).
